Anton Getman has been appointed director of the Novaya Opera Theatre. Today, he officially took office.
Natalya Drozhnikova, Head of the Theatres and Concert Organizations Directorate of the Moscow City Department of Culture, introduced Anton Getman to the theatre’s staff.
“I am grateful to the Department of Culture for the assessment of my work; the new appointment is a serious professional challenge and responsibility for me. I would like to see the Novaya Opera included in the pan-European cultural context of opera and contemporary dance, actively implementing interdisciplinary, touring, educational and joint programmes, including those with other theatres. The implementation of such an ambitious project will require well-coordinated effort by the entire team,” said Getman, commenting on his appointment.
Anton Getman is an Honoured Cultural Worker of Russia, holds a second-class medal of the Order of Merit for the Motherland, and has a Commendation of the President of the Russian Federation. Until recently, he headed the Stanislavsky and Nemirovich-Danchenko Moscow Music Theatre.
