Alexey Bogdanchikov

Graduated from the Tchaikovsky Moscow State Conservatory (Prof. Loshak’s class) in 2015. In 2008–2010, he underwent advanced training at the Galina Vishnevskaya Opera Centre, where he performed the title role in Tchaikovsky’s Eugene Onegin and Robert in Tchaikovsky’s Iolanta. The singer took part in the Centre’s tours in Russia, Germany and Poland. In 2009–2010, he was a scholarship holder of the Rostropovich Foundation.

He sang Barret in Tutino’s The Servant at the National Theatre of Szeged (Hungary, 2010),the J.K. Tyl Theatre in Plzen (Czech Republic, 2010) and Teatro Rossini (Italy, 2011). Alexey has appeared at prestigious venues in Germany and Italy including Teatro Comunale di Bologna (Wolfram in Wagner’s Tanhäuser) and the Staatsoper Hannover (Onegin in Tchaikovsky’s Eugene Onegin).

In the 2011–2012 season, he participated in the international opera programme of the Deutsche Oper Berlin, appearing as Maximilian and the Captain in Bernstein’s Candide, Ping in Puccini’s Turandot, Peer Gynt in Grieg’s Peer Gynt, Moralès in Bizet’s Carmen, Silvano in Verdi’s Un ballo in maschera, and Flemish Deputy in Verdi’s Don Carlo.

He gave recitals with the Heilbronn Symphony Orchestra in Germany in 2013.

In June 2013, Alexey Bogdanchikov represented Russia at the BBC Cardiff Singer of the World competition.

In October 2013, he was chosen an honorary member of the Gottlob Frik Society in Heilbronn, Germany.

In 2014, he sang Paolo Albiani in Verdi’s Simon Boccanegra at the Teatro Municipale of Piacenza and the Teatro Comunale Luciano Pavarotti in Modena, Belcore in Donizetti’s L’elisir d’amore at the Teatro delle Muse in Ancona, and Morales in Bizet’s Carmen at the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma (all in Italy).

The singer has also taken part in Russian opera productions. He performed as Yeletsky in Tchaikovsky’s The Queen of Spades at the Buryatia State Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre in Ulan-Ude (2012),Onegin in the Magnitogorsk Opera and Ballet Theatre (2014),the Astrakhan State Opera and Ballet Theatre (2014–2015),the Pushkin  Nizhny Novgorod State Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre (during the Boldino Autumn festival in 2018). In 2019, he sang Figaro (Rossini’s Il barbiere di Siviglia) in the Akhundov State Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre in Azerbaijan.

In 2014, Alexey joined the Novaya Opera Theatre.

Since 2015, he has been a soloist of the Staatsoper Hamburg (Germany),where he has performed the parts of Rodrigue (French version of Verdi's Don Carlos), Onegin (Tchaikovsky's Eugene Onegin),Yeletsky (Tchaikovsky's The Queen of Spades),Count Almaviva (Mozart's The Marriage of Figaro),Enrico (Donizetti's Lucia di Lammermoor),Figaro (Rossini's Il barbiere di Siviglia),Valentin (Gounod's Faust),Sharpless (Puccini's Madama Butterfly),Frank and Fritz (Korngold's Die tote Stadt).

Alexey Bogdanchikov has worked with many outstanding conductors such as Kent Nagano, Daniel Oren, Renato Palumbo, Jesús López Cobos, Pier Giorgio Morandi, Stefano Ranzani, Donald Runnicles, Emmanuel Villaume, Jader Bignamini and Johannes Fritzsch.

In 2017, he performed the role of Giorgio Germont in Verdi's La Traviata conducted by Jan Latham-Koenig at the 63th Festival Puccini in Torre del Lago (Italy).

In 2019, during the Novaya Opera’s tour in Tallinn (Estonia) he took part in the Birgitta Festival, where he sang Valentin in Gounod’s Faust (conductor Jan Latham-Koenig, stage director Ekaterina Odegova).

  • Special Prize Dr. Wilhelm Oberdörffer Preis for performing the roles of Rodrigo and Onegin at the Staatsoper Hamburg (Germany, 2017)
  • Special Prize at the Neue Stimmen competition (Gütersloh, Germany, 2013)
  • Prize-winner of the European Opera Singing Competition Debut (2nd Prize, Weikersheim, Germany, 2012)
  • Prize-winner of the Armel International Competition (3rd Prize, Szeged, Hungary, 2010)
