Felix Korobov

Felix Korobov is the Chief Conductor of the Stanislavsky and Nemirovich-Danchenko Music Theatre of Moscow. 

He graduated from the Moscow State Conservatory (cello; opera and symphony conducting) and later completed post-graduate studies at the Conservatory, specializing in string quartet.

He started his career as a conductor in the State Academic Symphony Orchestra of Russia. For three seasons he was chief conductor of both the Stanislavsky and Nemirovich-Danchenko Music Theatre and the Kolobov Novaya Opera Theatre of Moscow. Between 2004 and 2006, he produced Bellini’s Norma and Rimsky-Korsakov’s The Tsar’s Bride at the Novaya Opera.

In 2004, Felix Korobov became chief conductor of the Stanislavsky and Nemirovich-Danchenko Music Theatre of Moscow. As the music director he produced Verdi’s La Traviata, Aida, La forza del destino, Massenet’s Wertherand Manon, Cherubini’s Medea, Tchaikovsky’s Eugene Onegin, Rimsky-Korsakov’s May Night, Kobekin’s Hamlet (Danish) a (Russian) Comedy, Milhaud’s and Satie’s Cafe Socrate, Prokofiev’s War and Peace, Rossini’s L’italiana in Algeri, Alexander Zhurbin’s Love's Metamorphosis, Stravinsky’s Oedipus rex to name a few and ballets Prokofiev’s Cinderella, Auerbach’s Tatiana. He is the music director and the author of a series of the musical theatrical for children and youth in the Music Theatre (Prokofiev, Saint-Saëns, and Britten).

He has collaborated with the prominent choreographers Neumeier (The Seagulland, The Little Mermaid),Vinogradov (Cinderella), and Grigorovich (TheStone Flower). He conducted a Russian ballet season at the Hamburg Ballet — John Neumeier and was the music director of Khachaturian’s Spartacus in the Deutsche Oper am Rhein in Düsseldorf.

Felix Korobov concertizes extensively as a conductor and a cellist. He works with symphony orchestras in Russia, Germany, Finland and Italy. He is the chief guest conductor of the State Hermitage Orchestra (St. Petersburg Camerata). Since 2007, he has been the artistic director and the chief conductor of the Chamber Orchestra of the Tchaikovsky Moscow Conservatory.

As cellist and conductor Felix Korobov took part in many Russian and international festival. He has recorded more than 20 CDs.
