Italia has given the world many great composers, and many of them wrote chamber vocal music. Songs for voice and piano were created by many opera masters such as Gioachino Rossini, Vincenzo Bellini, Giuseppe Verdi, Pietro Mascagni, Ruggero Leoncavallo and others.
A special page of this genre is the Canzone Napoletana which was at its height between the second half of the 19th century and the first half of the 20th century. The compositions by Eduardo di Capua, Ernesto De Curtis, Francesco Paolo Tosti and many other composers are gems of the concert repertoire.
Italian soirees at the Novaya Opera have already become a good tradition. They are the best pieces of chamber vocal music performed by the theatre’s soloists.
